June Family Bike Club Ride(s) - Sugar Hollow Rd., Albemarle Co. Print E-mail

What better way to enjoy the local countryside than by riding along the flat Sugar Hollow Road (Rt. 614) from the White Hall area to the Sugar Hollow Reservoir dam? It's about 4.5 miles to the dam, where we'll park a snack car to refuel for the return trip. Along the way we'll stop and cool off in the Moormans River (you might even want to wear your bathing suit!). 9 miles roundtrip. First half-mile is downhill (which means the last half-mile is uphill); rest of route is flat; mostly shaded.

This will be our first local ride, and our first on an active (though relatively quiet) road. All participants should be able to handle riding with traffic. Not appropriate for kids on training wheels. The ride will be led by 2 Family Bike Club adults.

Two dates to choose from:

Saturday, June 16, 10 AM. Meet at the Mount Olivet Baptist Church on Rt. 614 just past White Hall.

Sunday, June 17, 10 AM.
Do NOT park at the church today; park instead at one of the two convenience stores in White Hall - just be sure to ask permission; adds a bit to roundtrip mileage.

Please let me know which of these rides fits your family's schedule.
And bring some friends with you!
