The Year of the Bike in Charlottesville!

April 16, 2007
6:30-7:30pm

Meet at 6:30 in front of City Hall near the public chalkboard for a press conference. Then, join us as we go in to the City Council meeting to make a public comment.

We will ask all the supporters of cycling to stand, so we need a lot of people there to really send a strong message! Wear a bike helmet and bring friends!

ACCT will release our detailed list of priority bicycle improvements. This list represents over 400 people's input and 4 months of research. This is our way of prioritizing the public's needs and providing thorough feedback from bicyclists about the specific details of each improvement. To learn more about this process, check out www.transportationchoice.org/Bicycle.html ACCT is merging with the Charlottesville Area Bicycle Alliance (CHABA). For many years, CHABA was the leader in bicycle advocacy in the Charlottesville area.

To make the most of our collective efforts, on April 16th CHABA will merge into ACCT.

This means an even larger network of passionate bicycle advocates! Also on this night, ACCT will announce the winners of our Sculptural Bicycle Rack Design competition. This is the first competition of this type in our community and will result in four amazing, artistic bike racks being installed in high-visibility locations this summer.

With all these exciting efforts going on, you can see why we're calling 2007 The Year of the Bike. In order to see the priority projects become realities, we need to make it known that there are A LOT of bicyclists in this community who desire safe, connected bicycle trails and lanes. We hope to see you on April 16th!
